Features

MSI B550-A PRO motherboard is based on the AMD B550 chipset and features Socket AM4. It supports AMD Ryzen 5000 and 3000 Series desktop processors, excluding Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G, as well as AMD Ryzen 4000 G-Series processors.

Four DDR4 slots support up to 128 GB of memory and dual-channel operation. JEDEC frequencies up to 3200 MHz are supported, while A-XMP OC supports frequencies up to 4400+ MHz. MSI also specifies maximum speeds of up to 4800 MHz for a 1DPC 1R configuration, up to 3866 MHz for 1DPC 2R, up to 4000 MHz for 2DPC 1R, and up to 3600 MHz for 2DPC 2R. Non-ECC UDIMM memory and ECC UDIMM operating in non-ECC mode are supported.

Two PCIe x16 and two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots are available for expansion cards. The primary PCI_E1 slot supports PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 depending on the installed processor, while PCI_E3 operates at PCIe 3.0 speeds up to x4. 2-Way AMD CrossFire technology is also supported. When a PCIe SSD is installed in M2_2, the PCI_E3 slot becomes unavailable.

Two M.2 connectors and six SATA 6Gb/s ports are available for storage. M2_1 supports PCIe 4.0/3.0 x4 and SATA, while M2_2 supports PCIe 3.0 x4. SATA storage supports RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10, while M.2 NVMe storage supports RAID 0 and RAID 1.

Network connectivity is provided by the Realtek RTL8111H Gigabit LAN controller. The audio subsystem uses the Realtek ALC892/ALC897 codec and supports 7.1-channel audio.

When a processor with integrated graphics is used, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort outputs provide a maximum resolution of 4096 × 2160 at 60 Hz. USB connectivity includes USB 3.2 Gen 2 10Gbps, USB 3.2 Gen 1 5Gbps, and USB 2.0 interfaces. Cooling connections include CPU Fan, Water Pump, and six System Fan connectors.
